  1. This is my third order from this company. My orders are delivered within about 3 days . I have been extremely pleased with everything . Products are well made and I predict that they will last for years. The customer service lady I talked to was very nice. I am impressed with not only the product , but the company also. I would give them 10 stars if I could. Thank you very much Colonel Littleton.

  2. I love well-made products! This is a high quality, well-made checkbook cover. My only criticism is that it is that the pocket width could be smaller. Otherwise, there is nothing negative that I can say. The stitching looks great and the leather is strong yet supple.

  4. Completely satisfied with everything about this company! Products, service, and personnel are outstanding! From Judy to Rebecca and Sandy and everyone I have communicated with they are all so friendly! I find myself ordering just to chat with them! I have never had a bad experience with any product I ordered. As I said in previous comments we have even taken the two hrs drive from visiting relatives in Tennessee to visit this little store. If you haven’t visited them and your in Tennessee it is definitely worth the drive! Keep up the great work! Carol Stevensville Mi

  5. This is the first thing that I bought from the Colonel and I am suitably impressed. I do not know if this will last long enough to be an heirloom under hard use (more on that later), but it should certainly last at least 10 years. While the Colonel says that his items are more of a “want” than a “need”, I say that his products are more of an investment. Buy it once, take care of it properly, and it will last you a lifetime. I highly recommend this for a gift or personal use.

    Details:
I’ve gone over this checkbook cover with a fine tooth comb, and every stitch is perfect. The ends are melted and then tapped flush with the surface of the leather. The only suggestion I have on stitching is to not finish stitches at the ends or corners – double back 3 or 4 stitches and stop. Corners and edges are what receive the most stress, and that is what concerns me about this checkbook cover.

At first, I was a little surprised that there are not finished leather surfaces in the pockets. Then I thought about it for a while, and having unfinished surfaces (i.e., the “bottom” of the leather) on the inside of the pockets makes perfect sense: it provides a rough surface for your checkbook to grip so it does not slide out.

The quality of the leather seems to be top-notch, although I am not sure if the leather is fully-tanned through because the edges are painted & sealed. The pieces of leather are thin, perhaps 1 oz., and so two pieces sewn together make 2 oz. It is about half as thick as Saddle back Leather, for those who are wondering. This concerns me because my only other experience with thin leather like this did not end well, having wore out in a couple of years, but it was not a Colonel Littleton product. That being said, you probably do not want 4-5 oz. leather for a checkbook cover because that will take a very, very long time to break in. Speaking of breaking in, this piece is already soft and supple. It is ready to use and lays perfectly flat right out of the box.

I suppose the last thing to note is that the band around the middle looks very nice and it does stick out above the rest of the leather cover. This is not a problem until you get to the bottom of your checks, at which point you will feel the strap as you write over it. This will not prevent you from writing; you might see two bumps show up on your checks as you write over the strap.

  6. This is the third item I have bought from Colonel Littleton. They simply are the best made leather goods I have come across. The quality is second to none. Not to mention the company’s attention to detail from the product to the literature to the packaging. A+ Stuff!

Love this case. Use it for both business and personal checking accounts. Excellent quality, as you should expect nothing less than the value of the Colonel’s handcrafted products. Own several items and continue to purchase for myself, clients and as gifts.

  9. Built to last several lifetimes.
Excellent craftsmanship, this will definitely last you a lifetime. Quality is what you could expect from Colonel Littleton prducts. I have used checkbooks in the past and they have lasted me for almost 1-2 years before falling apart. You will not have a problem with this one at all.

Our Story

We are committed to producing quality, handcrafted products that showcase our time-honored standards of excellence and deep respect for the Americana tradition. Col. Littleton products go through rigorous testing and numerous quality inspections before being shipped to our customers. Should you receive a Col. Littleton product that is defective in materials or workmanship, you can count on us to make it right. Our guarantee is limited to the cost of the product itself. It also does not cover normal wear and tear. We feel if you just plain “wore it out,” you got your money’s worth. Also, we cannot be responsible for an item which has suffered through alteration, damage due to improper cleaning, improper use, mishandling or accident. If we made a mistake in personalizing your product or if the product is defective in materials or workmanship, of course we’ll replace it. Otherwise, personalized products are not returnable.

Leather is a passion for me. There are more kinds of leather and leather processing out there than you can shake a stick at. You can mold leather into just about any shape or form. You can make every hide look just alike. You can dye it green, blue or even pink. You can apply a finish, coat it, spray it or make it look slick and shiny. That’s not what we’re about at Col. Littleton. To me the beauty is in the naturalness of the leather. People always comment to me about the special “feel” of our leather and how it becomes even more beautiful after it has some wear on it. It’s all about our leather process. When you buy Col. Littleton leather goods, you’re buying, for the most part, full-grain American vegetable-tanned steer hide that has received a minimum of alteration. We don’t apply a finish to hide character markings. The way I see it, every marking tells a story and covering them robs the piece of its life and character.

I see a real resurgence in the country today for products made in America. Our focus is to design and create products that speak to the time-honored traditions that have made this country great such as handmade craftsmanship, authentic rich leathers and quality workmanship. There’s a nostalgic feel about the products we make . . . most of them could have been made 100 years ago and many are made using turn-of-the-20th-century methodology and machinery. Our products are true Americana; forged as our forefathers intended by people who care and take pride in making a beautiful product.
