No. 1943 Navigator Briefcase – American Buffalo

The use of American Buffalo lends even more heritage to our WWII-inspired briefcase American Buffalo – one of the most popular in our line of business bags. Wonderfully rugged in texture and superbly handcrafted by our talented leathersmiths in the Col. Littleton Workshop.

Expanding body with adjustable side gussets accommodates your necessities. Straps with workable buckles wrap around the bag and also have snap closures for easy access. I added an adjustable, detachable shoulder strap to go with the handle, which I’m sure those World War II navigators would have appreciated.

Two dividers inside give you a total of three deep pockets. A leather pocket on the front of the first divider holds your iPad®, pen, stylus, business cards, etc. I designed the unique solid brass closure especially for the bag. Brass pommel shield on the back is serial numbered; and the brass oval plate on the lower front may be personalized with three initials, adding to the exclusivity of the bag.

Inside dimensions:10.5” H x15.5” W x 4” D (expanded).

Shoulder Strap Length: 39″-57″

Briefcase American Buffalo Bag Weight: 4.3lbs.

iPad® is a registered trademark of Apple, Inc.

  1. This briefcase is a total beast. I did hours of research before buying one and looked at all the “top” leather brands. I settled on Col. Littleton because of the reviews and the reputation – now I’m a customer for life! I could not be happier. I get compliments every single day I carry it. The brass and leather develop a great patina and the workmanship is stunning. Don’t buy some junk, buy a briefcase your grand kids can use too…

  2. If you are looking for a high-end, well made bag with style, look no further. I spent a week looking at everything on the web. Nothing matches the style and craftsmanship you will find here. Plus, they are really nice folks to work with

I fell in love with the military influenced design and the unique look paired with the flawless functionality through & through in every aspect of the features. It pairs perfectly with his favorite navy and grey suits for work, it was a big hit for my man!

  4. I use mine every day since I have had it. Words can not describe the quality or style. I will simply say that at least 3 people a day come up to me and tell me how amazing it is. At least 3 people a week come up to me and rub it as they tell me how amazing it is.

  5. I bought this briefcase for the office and after 6 months, I am very happy with it. The leather is getting softer and smoother and the craftsmanship is awesome. If you have moderate amounts of things to carry around, this bag may be the best bag for you. It carries my IPAD, my Portfolio (No 18). Umbrella, and plenty of smaller things. (If you carry a lot of books around, another bag may be more appropriate.)

  6. My wife gave me this briefcase as a gift – it’s actually serial number 001. Words can hardly describe how incredible this is. The workmanship is outstanding – it’s a work of art that’s functional. The buffalo leather has such amazing character – it’s truly one of kind. I use it mostly to carry a small laptop/tablet and it’s perfect.

Our Story

We are committed to producing quality, handcrafted products that showcase our time-honored standards of excellence and deep respect for the Americana tradition. Col. Littleton products go through rigorous testing and numerous quality inspections before being shipped to our customers. Should you receive a Col. Littleton product that is defective in materials or workmanship, you can count on us to make it right. Our guarantee is limited to the cost of the product itself. It also does not cover normal wear and tear. We feel if you just plain “wore it out,” you got your money’s worth. Also, we cannot be responsible for an item which has suffered through alteration, damage due to improper cleaning, improper use, mishandling or accident. If we made a mistake in personalizing your product or if the product is defective in materials or workmanship, of course we’ll replace it. Otherwise, personalized products are not returnable.

Leather is a passion for me. There are more kinds of leather and leather processing out there than you can shake a stick at. You can mold leather into just about any shape or form. You can make every hide look just alike. You can dye it green, blue or even pink. You can apply a finish, coat it, spray it or make it look slick and shiny. That’s not what we’re about at Col. Littleton. To me the beauty is in the naturalness of the leather. People always comment to me about the special “feel” of our leather and how it becomes even more beautiful after it has some wear on it. It’s all about our leather process. When you buy Col. Littleton leather goods, you’re buying, for the most part, full-grain American vegetable-tanned steer hide that has received a minimum of alteration. We don’t apply a finish to hide character markings. The way I see it, every marking tells a story and covering them robs the piece of its life and character.

I see a real resurgence in the country today for products made in America. Our focus is to design and create products that speak to the time-honored traditions that have made this country great such as handmade craftsmanship, authentic rich leathers and quality workmanship. There’s a nostalgic feel about the products we make . . . most of them could have been made 100 years ago and many are made using turn-of-the-20th-century methodology and machinery. Our products are true Americana; forged as our forefathers intended by people who care and take pride in making a beautiful product.
