The latest word is, “I’m on TV.” I’m not sure the world is ready for that, but I made my debut a couple of weeks ago.
My good friend, Larry Black, is a big Colonel Littleton fan. He has been making the trip from Nashville to Lynnville for a long time, adding to his collection of Col. Littleton products at our Lynnville store. Larry produces and hosts a program on RFD-TV called, “Larry’s Country Diner.” The “Diner” is a unique down-home variety show taped in front of a live audience.
Larry knows a ham when he sees one, so he talked me into a guest role as the “Mailman” for the Diner. You hear horses galloping in the background and I come running in delivering mail in my Col. Littleton Mailbag or Saddlebag Briefcase. We read the fan mail and I share a few words of “Colonel” wisdom with the audience.
My idea of taping a show was seeing someone come out and say “Take 1, Take 2, Take 25,” etc. Not so at the Diner. They tape it straight through one time with no rehearsals and whatever happens hits the airwaves, so it’s pretty funny.
IF YOU DON’T GET RFD-TV, YOU SHOULD DEMAND IT. Where else could you find out the price of soybeans in Brazil or watch Farmer’s Almanac, reruns of Hee Haw, National Tractor Pulling, American Agri-Women or Molly B’s Polka Party. You wouldn’t expect to find the Colonel on MTV or Swamp People, but I’m a natural for the Diner, so tune in and have some laughs.
