No. 25 Drifter Handbag Purse

The daughter of a good friend of mine deals in vintage clothing and accessories. She came across a purse similar to this one, sent it to me and said, “Colonel, you  have to make a bag like this.” So, I did. The first one out of our workshop went to my buddy, Holly, to reward her keen eye for classic design.

The Drifter seems to fill a niche in our line of ladies bags. Its crescent shape and slightly slouchy posture is perfect for our soft, dry-milled leather. The vintage style hobo purse was born in the 1960’s before the advent of smart phones and the like, so I updated the design with two pockets on the outside front.

Strap adjusts from 21” to 24”. Pigskin lining. Nickel finish hardware. Zippered top. 9.25” H. 13.5” W at widest point. Available in Vintage Brown.

Product packaging includes cotton canvas dust bag.

Made in the Col. Littleton Workshop.

  1. I received the Drifter purse for Christmas and I love it! I had been shopping around for purses and almost chose a western style purse from another company when my fiancé found the Colonel Littleton website. He’s a buy once, cry once type of person and we found this leather quality to be superior to the purses I had been looking at. I could not find any information on the type of leather these other companies were using. The Drifter is the perfect size for me. The leather is supple and I like the adjustable strap. The inside is unfinished leather which is cool to see. This is worth the investment!

  2. I received the No. 25 Drifter Handbag today. It’s a birthday gift for my sister and I hope you she will like it. The handbag looks really nice and the moon pie was an added bonus along with the coaster. Thank you Tina for nice postcard. This is my first purchase from the Colonel and I’m sure it won’t be the last.

  3. I was so pleased when l got my drifter handbag. I have had my eye on this bag for a long time, and finally bought it. I love the color and it’s the perfect size, not too big and not too small. The craftsmanship is fabulous. I will enjoy this purse for many years to come. So glad l made the purchase.

  4. We had watched a Tennessee Crossroads feature on Lynnville and headed out recently for a day trip from Mt. Juliet. We love vintage things and were so impressed with the shop, packed with beautiful treasures and wonderful leather smells. I admired the Drifter bag, and the way it seemed to fit just right, but I would not indulge myself. However, wonderful hubby had taken it all in and surprised me with the bag for our 53rd anniversary August 27! It is perfection, and I will have to make myself use it, instead of putting on a pedestal! What quality and fine workmanship! It will last far longer than I will, but I will love it (and him) forever!

  5. I gave this as a gift to a customer. It’s great qualtiy and she loved it. Great product.

Our Warranty

We are committed to producing quality, handcrafted products that showcase our time-honored standards of excellence and deep respect for the Americana tradition. Col. Littleton products go through rigorous testing and numerous quality inspections before being shipped to our customers. Should you receive a Col. Littleton product that is defective in materials or workmanship, you can count on us to make it right. Our guarantee is limited to the cost of the product itself. It also does not cover normal wear and tear. We feel if you just plain “wore it out,” you got your money’s worth. Also, we cannot be responsible for an item which has suffered through alteration, damage due to improper cleaning, improper use, mishandling or accident. If we made a mistake in personalizing your product or if the product is defective in materials or workmanship, of course we’ll replace it. Otherwise, personalized products are not returnable.

Our Leather

Leather is a passion for me. There are more kinds of leather and leather processing out there than you can shake a stick at. You can mold leather into just about any shape or form. You can make every hide look just alike. You can dye it green, blue or even pink. You can apply a finish, coat it, spray it or make it look slick and shiny. That’s not what we’re about at Col. Littleton. To me the beauty is in the naturalness of the leather. People always comment to me about the special “feel” of our leather and how it becomes even more beautiful after it has some wear on it. It’s all about our leather process. When you buy Col. Littleton leather goods, you’re buying, for the most part, full-grain American vegetable-tanned steerhide that has received a minimum of alteration. We don’t apply a finish to hide character markings. The way I see it, every marking tells a story and covering them robs the piece of its life and character.

Our Craftsmanship

I see a real resurgence in the country today for products made in America. Our focus is to design and create products that speak to the time-honored traditions that have made this country great such as handmade craftsmanship, authentic rich leathers and quality workmanship. There’s a nostalgic feel about the products we make . . . most of them could have been made 100 years ago and many are made using turn-of-the-20th-century methodology and machinery. Our products are true Americana; forged as our forefathers intended by people who care and take pride in making a beautiful product.
