Not long ago, we heard from someone who knows a thing or two about machines that stand the test of time: Jay Leno. Along with a kind note, he sent us a photo of himself giving a thumbs up, with his Colonel Littleton bag perched proudly on the fender of a classic Willys Jeep.
If you know the Colonel’s story, you know that old Jeeps have a special place in his heart. Several years ago Colonel restored one himself —the same rugged, utilitarian style of vehicle that shows up in black-and-white photos and old war stories. So, seeing one of our bags sitting on a Willys in Jay Leno’s world-famous garage felt a bit like two old friends bumping into each other far from home.
“Thanks again for making my great bag! I use it every day and always receive compliments about it… I’m sorry it took me so long to thank you. I just wanted to be really sure it would last as long as you said!” – Jay Leno
We are always grateful for that kind of feedback. Around here, we work hard to make sure that when someone carries a Colonel Littleton bag, it’s not just for special occasions. We want it to be the piece you reach for every morning—the one that rides shotgun in your truck, sits beside your desk, and goes wherever life takes you.
Jay Leno is known across the world for his love of classic cars, rare vehicles and the stories behind them. The Colonel shares that same appreciation: the smell of a well-kept garage, the sound of an engine that’s been tuned just right, and the satisfaction of bringing something finely crafted back to life. Whether it’s a vintage automobile or a piece of full-grain leather, the idea is the same: build it right the first time, take care of it, and it’ll serve you well for years to come.
That’s why this photo means so much to us. It’s not just a snapshot of a familiar face. It’s a picture of shared values: craftsmanship, history, and the belief that some things are worth doing the right way, even when the easier way is faster.
From our small town of Lynnville, Tennessee, to a legendary garage in Los Angeles, we’re honored that one of our bags has found a home there— and that it’s being used, not just a show piece.
So, here’s to well-made engines, well-made leather, and the people who appreciate them. Thank you, Jay, for taking us along for the ride.
