No. 2 Duffel Bag in American Alligator – Serial No. 002

This luxurious bag is One-Of-A-Kind.

Colonel always says, “There ain’t no future in being ordinary.” A bag of this beauty and quality will definitely elevate your travel gear from ordinary to stellar status and get you noticed wherever your journey takes you.

All of you Col. Littleton American Alligator aficionados out there, please take notice. The Serial Number on this exceptional bag is No. 002. That means it’s the second one ever made and the only one available at this time; so, to say it is rare is an understatement.

Crafting products in American Alligator is an art that can only be accomplished well in the hands of an experienced and meticulous craftsman. Since alligator is the ultimate luxury, nothing is spared in our workshop to make each alligator piece a masterpiece.

“I can tell you . . . a bag like this doesn’t just roll off some assembly line. It is planned and orchestrated to the smallest detail. I personally chose the American Alligator hides that were used for this bag and supervised every step of the construction. It took a couple of hours just to study and match the hides before making the first cut. There is an art to planning a bag like this, but the end result is well worth it.”

– Colonel Littleton

Construction and extras

Duffels made their way from military and utilitarian uses to mainstream, everyday carry many years ago. You can find them out there in every conceivable color, design and material – some good, some not so good. But, I can say with confidence you won’t find one like this in American Alligator out there.

Can you wad it up and throw it in the corner – well, no, that wasn’t Colonel’s vision . . . this duffel isn’t made of canvas, nylon or any man-made material. Colonel designed this exceptional bag in American Alligator and trimmed it in full-grain American Steerhide. Then he fully lined it in soft calfskin to add an extra measure of excellence and quality. Even though it was destined to become a work of art from its inception, it is user-friendly and quite serviceable. There’s plenty of room to carry everything you need for an overnight stay, or it serves well as your personal carry-on-bag for extended trips.

One of the bag’s most convenient features is that it opens all the way for easy packing, because it isn’t restricted by a zipper closure. Outside pockets on each end of the bag, measuring 7 ¼” (W) x 5” (T) with ball stud closures offer you quick access to needed items. Wrap-around straps culminate in buckle closures with solid brass hardware. Convenient carry handle and an adjustable shoulder strap with comfort pad finish the look. Serial-numbered on the front Pommel Shield.*

Free American Alligator Luggage Tag

You don’t want to hang just any old luggage tag on an American Alligator bag as fine as this one. When you buy the bag, Colonel will include an American Alligator Luggage Tag ($210 value) free of charge, so your tag will match your bag in style and quality.

Make this special bag undeniably yours by personalizing it with three initials on the front oval brass plate. Overall dimensions 19 ⅛” (W) x 10 ½” (D) x 9 ½” (H) including handle. Product packaging includes a protective drawstring cotton canvas dust bag with the Col. Littleton Cameo logo.

  • Appointed with solid Brass hardware
  • Pockets on each end: 7 ¼” (W) x 5” (H)
  • Adjustable Alligator Shoulder Strap: 34 ½” – 42 ½”
  • Made in the Col. Littleton Workshop, Lynnville, TN USA.

The hides we use are from alligators raised and trapped in the wild. Each hide is intentionally chosen to show the natural character markings such as scars and scratches that are common to alligators raised in the wild.

*Historically, the pommel shield was used on U. S. Cavalry saddles to identify the seat size and, many times, the arsenal that supplied them.

Our Warranty

We are committed to producing quality, handcrafted products that showcase our time-honored standards of excellence and deep respect for the Americana tradition. Col. Littleton products go through rigorous testing and numerous quality inspections before being shipped to our customers. Should you receive a Col. Littleton product that is defective in materials or workmanship, you can count on us to make it right. Our guarantee is limited to the cost of the product itself. It also does not cover normal wear and tear. We feel if you just plain “wore it out,” you got your money’s worth. Also, we cannot be responsible for an item which has suffered through alteration, damage due to improper cleaning, improper use, mishandling or accident. If we made a mistake in personalizing your product or if the product is defective in materials or workmanship, of course we’ll replace it. Otherwise, personalized products are not returnable.

Our Leather

Leather is a passion for me. There are more kinds of leather and leather processing out there than you can shake a stick at. You can mold leather into just about any shape or form. You can make every hide look just alike. You can dye it green, blue or even pink. You can apply a finish, coat it, spray it or make it look slick and shiny. That’s not what we’re about at Col. Littleton. To me the beauty is in the naturalness of the leather. People always comment to me about the special “feel” of our leather and how it becomes even more beautiful after it has some wear on it. It’s all about our leather process. When you buy Col. Littleton leather goods, you’re buying, for the most part, full-grain American vegetable-tanned steerhide that has received a minimum of alteration. We don’t apply a finish to hide character markings. The way I see it, every marking tells a story and covering them robs the piece of its life and character.

Our Craftsmanship

I see a real resurgence in the country today for products made in America. Our focus is to design and create products that speak to the time-honored traditions that have made this country great such as handmade craftsmanship, authentic rich leathers and quality workmanship. There’s a nostalgic feel about the products we make . . . most of them could have been made 100 years ago and many are made using turn-of-the-20th-century methodology and machinery. Our products are true Americana; forged as our forefathers intended by people who care and take pride in making a beautiful product.
