Some folks are just purists at heart, so we designed this classic folding wallet for traditional rear pocket carry. They called them “billfolds” when the Colonel was a boy, so that’s where this product got its name.
These wallets are handmade in Tennessee, USA from a special section of our vintage brown, hand-tanned, full-grain leather with lots of character. Lined in cognac calfskin.

Littleton products go through rigorous testing and numerous quality inspections before being shipped to our customers. Should you receive a Col. Littleton product that is defective in materials or workmanship, you can count on us to make it right. Our guarantee is limited to the cost of the product itself. It also does not cover normal wear and tear. We feel if you just plain “wore it out,” you got your money’s worth. Also, we cannot be responsible for an item which has suffered through alteration, damage due to improper cleaning, improper use, mishandling or accident. If we made a mistake in personalizing your product or if the product is defective in materials or workmanship, of course we’ll replace it. Otherwise, personalized products are not returnable.
Leather is a passion for me. There are more kinds of leather and leather processing out there than you can shake a stick at. You can mold leather into just about any shape or form. You can make every hide look just alike. You can dye it green, blue or even pink. You can apply a finish, coat it, spray it or make it look slick and shiny. That’s not what we’re about at Col. Littleton. To me the beauty is in the naturalness of the leather. People always comment to me about the special “feel” of our leather and how it becomes even more beautiful after it has some wear on it. It’s all about our leather process. When you buy Col. Littleton leather goods, you’re buying, for the most part, full-grain American vegetable-tanned steerhide that has received a minimum of alteration. We don’t apply a finish to hide character markings. The way I see it, every marking tells a story and covering them robs the piece of its life and character.
I see a real resurgence in the country today for products made in America. Our focus is to design and create products that speak to the time-honored traditions that have made this country great such as handmade craftsmanship, authentic rich leathers and quality workmanship. There’s a nostalgic feel about the products we make . . . most of them could have been made 100 years ago and many are made using turn-of-the-20th-century methodology and machinery. I’d love to give two reviews. The first for the wallet itself, and the second for the buying experience with Col. Littleton’s. Both, of course, are 5 Stars though.
Over the past few years, I’ve bought about seven different wallets. They were often great, and were made with quality leather, but they never quite suited me. I enjoyed the minimalism of card holder/money clip combos, but I wanted something that was a little better organized. I tried traditional bifold wallets, but they tended to be “too much”, with too many card slots that made them overly bulky. There was also the texture of the leather used, with some feeling stiffer than need be. I’m really not well educated on leather to begin with, so articulating exactly what I was looking for was difficult. But then one day while talking to my sister, she mentioned Col. Littleton’s and said that she’d bought several gifts for her male friends here. I went to the website and was scrolling through when I saw the No. 4 Leather Billfold wallet in vintage brown steerhide. It *looked* perfect, so I bought it immediately. When it arrived, it truly was the “perfect wallet” that I was looking for. A soft leather that still feels durable, a size that isn’t too small, but neither is it too large, and it has 5 front-facing card slots with 2 additional pockets behind them. It can hold cash without it sticking out the top, but nor is it too deep. And also importantly, it’s comfortable to wear in my back pocket, and it’s texture is enough that it doesn’t feel like it will easily slip out of my pockets either. The craftsmanship is also stellar, and the debossed initials look fantastic.
As for the buying experience, Colonel Littleton’s really makes you feel appreciated. They addressed my order almost immediately and got it shipped out the same day. I noticed there wasn’t a tracking number, though, and since I’m heading out of town on a vacation soon, I contacted them to see if they thought it would arrive before I departed. Joyce in Customer Care quickly got back to me with a tracking number, and it turned out it had been delivered already. The personalized note, along with the complimentary Moon Pie and other gifts in the package such as a leather coaster and a “Tennessee Triangle” really made me feel like they value their customers.
Needless to say, Colonel Littleton’s has a customer for life.

I am not sure where to start with this wallet. Calling it perfect would be an understatement! I received it today for my Nephew as a graduation gift with his initials on it, which, for future reference, aren’t the same as mine. Why would I point that out, you might ask? I found it hard not to keep it for myself, and I’m not even a selfish person. Don’t worry, though; I let it go. I have been using the front pocket wallet in Buffalo for a bit, and I love it!! Then here comes this beautiful masterpiece. Even if you know what a bi-fold wallet is, I would argue you have not experienced one of this caliber in the way it was meant to be experienced. The Colonel has done it again. It’s quite possible I may spend the next few years collecting all of what I can from these fine folks! Somehow they all make it a magical experience to open every order. Don’t hesitate on this one!
