Handcrafted Leather Bag for Travelers
Back in the day, folks carried wonderful bags, which were perfect for the stagecoach or train. We have a train that comes right through the middle of downtown Lynnville. As it passes through town, I always think about those travelers of yesteryear – how they dressed and what they carried. The No. 3 Leather Grip Bag is the result of that reflection.

Functionality and Design
Superbly handmade in our Col. Littleton Workshop, the No. 3 Grip really qualifies as Americana art; yet, it is very functional and serviceable. The beauty is in the details. Solid copper tubes and solid brass fixtures set it apart from any piece of luggage you’ll ever see. The No. 3 may be carried by either the leather handle or the adjustable shoulder strap which adjusts from 39 ½” – 47 ½”. Straps on the back secure your umbrella (umbrella not included).
Colonel has pulled out all the stops in creating this premium version of our always popular No. 3 Grip. The bag is a beauty to behold. Made of wonderfully textured, full-grain, rich Tobacco Brown American Buffalo which is dry-milled, making the bag soft and supple. Trimmed in our signature Vintage Brown polished American Steerhide. We’ve retained natural hide markings to add to the character of the bag. Solid brass hardware. The front brass pommel shield* is serial numbered, noting the exclusivity of the piece.
You wouldn’t believe how many customers tell us they routinely get stopped by fellow travelers in the airport and elsewhere who comment on the bag and ask where they bought it. It is sure to get you noticed.

I have been thinking about buying this bag for about five years. After two years of working as a software engineer, I figured that now was the time. I am *very* pleased. Colors are exactly like they appear on the website. It does indeed attract attention at the airport 🙂 It’s fairly roomy, but I think if you’re going to be traveling for more than three days, you’re going to want a second bag. I just bring my backpack and keep my toiletries, laptop, and dress shoes (if needed) in my backpack. Also, make sure to pack it full (you won’t have any difficulty doing that), because it sags a little bit if it’s not full. One final tip: use the umbrella straps for a jacket–they’re perfect for one. I’ve used them for both hoodies and suit jackets (pictured with both).
You will not find another bag like this. If you’re going to spend $1200 or more on a piece of luggage, why not pick something that stands out? Something that is made to last? Something that is undeniably genuine, high-quality leather (the buffalo leather feels great, by the way)? Something that almost no one else has? Something this is hand made by a small business in rural Tennessee? Something that is the epitome of American craftsmanship? If those are qualities you want in your bag, this will do the trick.
Awesome
I just received my No. 3 Grip Bag in American Buffalo. What a beautiful bag! Super quality and the leather is some of the best I’ve seen. The hardware is beefy and looks like it will last a lifetime plus (along with the rest of the bag). I was so impressed with my No. 3 Grip Bag that I just ordered a No. 1943 Navigator Briefcase in American Buffalo. Can’t wait to receive it. Thank you Col. for making such quality pieces. Thank you to your team on the quick shipping as well.
