Colonel Littleton designed our leather belt Collection with more than a nod to the military and sportsman’s tradition. When the belt first came out, the general reaction was “Why hasn’t someone thought of this before?”
The uniqueness of this collection of belts is in its’ adjusting feature. The traditional front buckle belt allows only three inches of fluctuation. Colonel’s belt adds another 8 inches, adjusting in one-inch increments. This means that one size fits almost everyone, which also makes it a great gift item.
Here’s how it works. Rather than adjusting and readjusting the belt in the front and messing up the leather, you park it in the middle position, where it belongs, and make any necessary adjustments on the side. That way if you have on bulkier trousers, a heavyweight shirt, or layers for warmth… if you lose a few pounds or, heaven forbid, gain a few… your belt accommodates all these variations nicely.
Colonel has now expanded his offering of the No. 4 Belt to include our popular full-grain, vegetable tanned Tobacco Brown American Buffalo. Aside from being one of the most functional and practical belt collections on the market, this collection looks uncommonly good… especially with khakis and jeans, for which it was designed.

We are committed to producing quality, handcrafted products that showcase our time-honored standards of excellence and deep respect for the Americana tradition. Col. Littleton products go through rigorous testing and numerous quality inspections before being shipped to our customers. Should you receive a Col. Littleton product that is defective in materials or workmanship, you can count on us to make it right. Our guarantee is limited to the cost of the product itself. It also does not cover normal wear and tear. We feel if you just plain “wore it out,” you got your money’s worth. Also, we cannot be responsible for an item which has suffered through alteration, damage due to improper cleaning, improper use, mishandling or accident. If we made a mistake in personalizing your product or if the product is defective in materials or workmanship, of course we’ll replace it. Otherwise, personalized products are not returnable.
Leather is a passion for me. There are more kinds of leather and leather processing out there than you can shake a stick at. You can mold leather into just about any shape or form. You can make every hide look just alike. You can dye it green, blue or even pink. You can apply a finish, coat it, spray it or make it look slick and shiny. That’s not what we’re about at Col. Littleton. To me the beauty is in the naturalness of the leather. People always comment to me about the special “feel” of our leather and how it becomes even more beautiful after it has some wear on it. It’s all about our leather process. When you buy Col. Littleton leather goods, you’re buying, for the most part, full-grain American vegetable-tanned steer hide that has received a minimum of alteration. We don’t apply a finish to hide character markings. The way I see it, every marking tells a story and covering them robs the piece of its life and character.
I see a real resurgence in the country today for products made in America. Our focus is to design and create products that speak to the time-honored traditions that have made this country great such as handmade craftsmanship, authentic rich leathers and quality workmanship. There’s a nostalgic feel about the products we make . . . most of them could have been made 100 years ago and many are made using turn-of-the-20th-century methodology and machinery. Our products are true Americana; forged as our forefathers intended by people who care and take pride in making a beautiful product.
My husband loves his No.4 Tobacco Brown American Buffalo belt, and in fact all of his Col. Littleton belts. He says they are the most comfortable belts he owns. He says because they are thicker belts, they don’t bend along the width of the belt, and so prevent any pinching along his waistline. He now buys his pants to have thick enough beltloops to accommodate these belts. From a purely aesthetic aspect, they are beautiful.
Bought, my second belt from the Colonel and couldn’t be happier. It arrived in two days, unbelievable, Tina, she also answers the phone, sent me a hand written note which was lovely. Not only that I got a chocolate moon pie, and then went and bought three boxes. The people that work with the Colonel really have it going on. Congratulations.
I just visited the Lynnville store yesterday because I’ve worked with leather for decades and as a lover of finely crafted leather goods and with a particular love for making things out of buffalo leather, I fell in love with this belt! The thickness and richness of leather along with the sturdy hardware makes it obvious to me that this belt is going to outlast me. It will go nicely with slacks and a dress shirt or with blue jeans and a t shirt. It’s not my birthday for a couple of months but my wife bought the belt for me and it’s sitting in a box for me in the next room, for the next 2 months. I can’t wait to start wearing it! $140.00 seemed pretty steep to me when I 1st saw the price tag but after checking out closely the quality of the leather and hardware, along with the time I know from experience that it took to make this, I feel like it’s well worth it!
This is a beautiful belt. You can appreciate the level of detail for this belt the moment you unbox the box that contains the belt. The fit, finish, and hardware are what you expect for belt made by craftsman at this price point. The color of this belt is perfect to match my attires from casual to dressed. Definitely would recommend this belt to others looking for something unique, yet functionable.
Well made quality belt that I am sure my husband will wear for years. I always try to get my husband a quality item for Christmas but, unfortunately, I am not in a position to consider the higher end items in the catalog (if I won the lottery I would get one of everything). This belt along with the small valet tray more than fits the bill and oh the wonderful smell of the leather. I highly recommend Colonel Littleton – you can tell they are a class operation from the moment when opening the box and seeing that it was so carefully packed with a uncrumpled paper laying across the top and inside each item was in a cloth sack within its own box. These small classy touches are very hard to find in this day and age demonstrate that Colonel Littleton’s appreciate their customers no matter the size of the order. Thank you very much and thank you for the moonpie and coaster tucked inside – a lovely surprise. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.
