Colonel Littleton designed our leather belt Collection with more than a nod to the military and sportsman’s tradition. When the belt first came out, the general reaction was “Why hasn’t someone thought of this before?”
The uniqueness of this collection of belts is in its’ adjusting feature. The traditional front buckle belt allows only three inches of fluctuation. Colonel’s belt adds another 8 inches, adjusting in one-inch increments. This means that one size fits almost everyone, which also makes it a great gift item.
Here’s how it works. Rather than adjusting and readjusting the belt in the front and messing up the leather, you park it in the middle position, where it belongs, and make any necessary adjustments on the side. That way if you have on bulkier trousers, a heavyweight shirt, or layers for warmth… if you lose a few pounds or, heaven forbid, gain a few… your belt accommodates all these variations nicely.
Colonel has now expanded his offering of the No. 4 Belt to include our popular full-grain, vegetable tanned Tobacco Brown American Buffalo. Aside from being one of the most functional and practical belt collections on the market, this collection looks uncommonly good… especially with khakis and jeans, for which it was designed.

Leather is a passion for me. There are more kinds of leather and leather processing out there than you can shake a stick at. You can mold leather into just about any shape or form. You can make every hide look just alike. You can dye it green, blue or even pink. You can apply a finish, coat it, spray it or make it look slick and shiny. That’s not what we’re about at Col. Littleton. To me the beauty is in the naturalness of the leather. People always comment to me about the special “feel” of our leather and how it becomes even more beautiful after it has some wear on it. It’s all about our leather process. When you buy Col. Littleton leather goods, you’re buying, for the most part, full-grain American vegetable-tanned steerhide that has received a minimum of alteration. We don’t apply a finish to hide character markings. The way I see it, every marking tells a story and covering them robs the piece of its life and character.

Cannot thank the Colonel Littleton team enough. I’m in the UK and wanted this belt. It’s a long story how it got here but involved a hotel in Florida, a friend, a trip to Mexico and finally here to the UK. The team bent over backwards to make it work for me. I’ve owned a lot of the Colonel’s beautiful things over the years and I even visited the store in Lynnville two years ago during one of my cross-Tennessee journeys.
While I was in the store, imagine my astonishment when the Colonel himself descended the stairs from an office down to the show room. I had him laughing when I said out loud: “By God, you ARE for real!”. It led to a STELLAR conversation with the man. He was genuinely curious about me, and where I was from. And, I told him how much I admired his entrepreneurial spirit, and what he has done for that small town of Lynnville. The kind of town which matters. The kind of town which continues to be the backbone of America. Great hospitality from everyone in town. Visit Lynnville!
Anyway, I received this bison belt today and, I will say that the photos here do not do the belt justice. It is absolutely something beautiful to look at, touch, smell, and wear. It looks great with the denim I’m wearing today. It’ll look great with the khakis I’m going to wear tomorrow. I am very pleased with it. Thank you to everyone at Col Littleton.
My husband loves his No.4 Tobacco Brown American Buffalo belt, and in fact all of his Col. Littleton belts. He says they are the most comfortable belts he owns. He says because they are thicker belts, they don’t bend along the width of the belt, and so prevent any pinching along his waistline. He now buys his pants to have thick enough beltloops to accommodate these belts. From a purely aesthetic aspect, they are beautiful.
