No. 1 Leather Belt with Adjusting Design – Tobacco Brown American Buffalo

After Colonel introduced our deep, richly textured Tobacco Brown American Buffalo to our line of leather goods, it quickly became a customer favorite. So he is now making our ever popular No. 1 Belt in this exciting leather.

“I designed our belt collection with more than a nod to the military and sportsman’s tradition. When the belt first came out, the general reaction was ‘Why hasn’t someone thought of this before?’ The design was so unique I applied for and received a design patent on it in 1997, and it has continued to be a best seller since that time.”

-Colonel

The uniqueness of this collection of belts is in its’ adjusting feature. The traditional front buckle belt allows only three inches of fluctuation. Colonel’s belt adds another 8 inches, adjusting in one-inch increments. This means that one size fits almost everyone, which also makes it a great gift item.

Here’s how it works. Rather than adjusting and readjusting the belt in the front and damaging the leather over time, you park it in the middle position, where it belongs, and make any necessary adjustments on the side. That way if you have on bulkier trousers, a heavyweight shirt, or layers for warmth… if you lose a few pounds or, heaven forbid, gain a few… your belt accommodates all these variations nicely.

Colonel paired our Tobacco Brown American Buffalo with sturdy Italian Bridle Leather for this belt which is perfect since it resists stretching and makes the belt even more durable. This heavier, Italian Bridle Leather comes from a tannery in Santa Croce Sull’Arno, Italy. Aside from being one of the most functional and practical belt collections on the market, this collection looks uncommonly good… especially with khakis and jeans, for which it was designed. 1-3/16”W.

Made in our Col. Littleton Workshop, Lynnville, TN USA.

No. 1 Belt Size Chart:

  • Small – Fits sizes 26″ – 34″
  • Large – Fits sizes 34″ – 42″
  • XLarge – Fits sizes 42″ – 50″

Belt Fit Guide:

  • Our belts are sized based on the exact inside circumference of the belt when buckled in the front, center position.
  • In addition to the standard front buckle positions, our unique side adjusting feature allows another 8 inches of adjustment in 1-inch increments.
  • Measure your waist circumference and compare to our sizes to determine fit. Our belts sizes should compare to your waist size rather than your pant size, since pant sizing may vary by manufacturer.

  2. I purchased the No. 1 belt based upon the photo on the web site and my experience with an eye glasses pouch I have been using for several years. Goodness! My eye glasses case still looks almost new! It is easy to express that I am 100 percent pleased. When the belt arrived my wife and I were impressed with the professional quality packing and protection afforded to ensure safe delivery. The belt is absolutely 5 stars quality! Perfect balance, attention to detail and craftsmanship front and back!

Our Warranty

We are committed to producing quality, handcrafted products that showcase our time-honored standards of excellence and deep respect for the Americana tradition. Col. Littleton products go through rigorous testing and numerous quality inspections before being shipped to our customers. Should you receive a Col. Littleton product that is defective in materials or workmanship, you can count on us to make it right. Our guarantee is limited to the cost of the product itself. It also does not cover normal wear and tear. We feel if you just plain “wore it out,” you got your money’s worth. Also, we cannot be responsible for an item which has suffered through alteration, damage due to improper cleaning, improper use, mishandling or accident. If we made a mistake in personalizing your product or if the product is defective in materials or workmanship, of course we’ll replace it. Otherwise, personalized products are not returnable.

Our Leather

Leather is a passion for me. There are more kinds of leather and leather processing out there than you can shake a stick at. You can mold leather into just about any shape or form. You can make every hide look just alike. You can dye it green, blue or even pink. You can apply a finish, coat it, spray it or make it look slick and shiny. That’s not what we’re about at Col. Littleton. To me the beauty is in the naturalness of the leather. People always comment to me about the special “feel” of our leather and how it becomes even more beautiful after it has some wear on it. It’s all about our leather process. When you buy Col. Littleton leather goods, you’re buying, for the most part, full-grain American vegetable-tanned steerhide that has received a minimum of alteration. We don’t apply a finish to hide character markings. The way I see it, every marking tells a story and covering them robs the piece of its life and character.

Three kinds of full-grain leather hides overlapping. In order left to right: Vintage Brown American Steerhide, Brown American Alligator, and Tobacco Brown American Buffalo

Our Craftsmanship

I see a real resurgence in the country today for products made in America. Our focus is to design and create products that speak to the time-honored traditions that have made this country great such as handmade craftsmanship, authentic rich leathers and quality workmanship. There’s a nostalgic feel about the products we make . . . most of them could have been made 100 years ago and many are made using turn-of-the-20th-century methodology and machinery. Our products are true Americana; forged as our forefathers intended by people who care and take pride in making a beautiful product.
