“Backpacks come in all shapes, sizes and materials . . . most are obviously for casual pursuits. When I decided to design the first backpack for the Col. Littleton line, I settled on a more classic and refined shape and a design that would complement a professional wardrobe and environment.
“I don’t believe there’s anything wrong with standing out from the crowd a little bit; so to help in that regard, my final step was adding two eye-catching nickel-finished cinch buckle closures. By the way, you will receive a special Col. Littleton sticker in the front pocket of the backpack that I believe tells the whole story.”

The Rover Leather Backpack has a convenient front pocket (5”H x 7 ¼”W) with extra storage space behind the pocket for your phone, etc. Underneath the front flap there’s a pocket for pens, business cards, tickets, receipts or whatever. The roomy interior provides a dedicated compartment for your laptop (up to 16”) as well as plenty of space for your portfolio, files, tablet, and everyday work essentials.
The Leather Backpack is Serial Numbered under the front flap and may be personalized with three initials on the front flap. Product packaging includes a protective cotton canvas dust bag with the Col. Littleton Cameo Logo. Meticulously handcrafted in the Col. Littleton Workshop, Lynnville, TN USA.

Leather is a passion for me. There are more kinds of leather and leather processing out there than you can shake a stick at. You can mold leather into just about any shape or form. You can make every hide look just alike. You can dye it green, blue or even pink. You can apply a finish, coat it, spray it or make it look slick and shiny. That’s not what we’re about at Col. Littleton. To me the beauty is in the naturalness of the leather. People always comment to me about the special “feel” of our leather and how it becomes even more beautiful after it has some wear on it. It’s all about our leather process. When you buy Col. Littleton leather goods, you’re buying, for the most part, full-grain American vegetable-tanned steerhide that has received a minimum of alteration. We don’t apply a finish to hide character markings. The way I see it, every marking tells a story and covering them robs the piece of its life and character.
I see a real resurgence in the country today for products made in America. Our focus is to design and create products that speak to the time-honored traditions that have made this country great such as handmade craftsmanship, authentic rich leathers and quality workmanship. I received this incredible backpack as a birthday gift. Opening the box revealed the wonderful aroma of quality leather. The backpack itself is absolutely gorgeous and made from thick, soft leather. I get many compliments and questions about the bag. Given the construction, I expect this thing will outlast me.
The pictures on the web page do not fully convey how impressive it is to use this backpack, which is filled with wonderful touches. The twin buckles to access the main compartment are really easy to use yet provide a solid closing. The pivots on the straps make it comfortable to wear, and the rolled handle makes it easy to move with one hand when you remove it from your back. I keep my work keys and work ID in the front-accessible pouch, my phone in the slot behind the business card holder, my electronics in the sleeve inside the main compartment, and my lunch, water bottle, and other goodies in the main compartment. I drop my car key fob into the pocket between the front pouch and the main compartment. Everything is easy to find, yet there are not so many compartments that you lose track of what is where. It seems they paid as much attention to design and usability as they did to material selection and construction. Simply put, this thing is incredible!

I received my latest Col. Littleton product, the No. 9 Rover Leather Backpack, last week. This is the third product I have ordered from Col. Littleton in the past month, and each one is absolutely exquisite! The No. 9 Rover Leather Backpack is beautiful, comfortable, and capable of handling my 15″ laptop, my notepad, all my power cords, glasses, pencils, pens, and everything else I need in my backpack. It is more than just a backpack, it is a beautiful piece of craftsmanship. I cannot even count the number of compliments I have received on this item in just the two weeks that I have owned it!

First and foremost, the customer service was outstanding. Even with adding initials it shipped quickly and arrived two days later. For most everyone this backpack will last a generation with normal wear and tear. The quality is excellent, and the workmanship is as well. My point of review is solely based on what I expect to see over time. I travel weekly for work on planes trains and every type of transportation there is. Thus, my gear gets exposed to serious wear and tear. I would rate this backpack as light to medium duty in its construction. My typical load-out, Laptop, power supply, noise canceling headphones, leather notepad, pens, cards, two cell phones, chargers, hygiene kit, Gore-Tex shell. Overall, I’m happy with my purchase and will update this review as I put some mileage on it. FYI, travel over 1/4 million air miles a year. I’m also sure I will get many looks and questions as it looks awesome.
