The Emissary Leather Envelope

Even though I originally envisioned this leather envelope for transporting writing materials, such as the Col. Littleton 8.5″ x 11” Memorandum Pad which is enclosed, it is truly a multi-purpose envelope. Great for transporting documents, letters and important papers.

Made of our soft-to-the-touch dry-milled, full grain leather in vintage brown and appointed with a solid brass ball stud closure, the Emissary looks and folds just like an envelope.

“There’s just something about this leather envelope that gives you a feeling of being on an important mission every time you carry it. No matter where your daily journey takes you, the Emissary is a good companion.”

– Colonel Littleton

  1. My son received this beautiful leather envelope as a HS graduation gift and I knew immediately that this was the “piece of TN” I wanted to take with me when moving to Europe at the end of the year. My very own Emissary arrived yesterday, lovingly packed and with a sweet treat: a Moon Pie… another regional icon! I just love the amazingly soft leather in beautiful vintage brown. Truly a very special item made to last. Plan on using mine with a writing pad for good old fashioned correspondence and I’m sure it will prompt many happy memories whenever I use it.

  2. I bought this for my MacBook Air 13″, having parsed the measurements. I had originally ordered the Apple sleeve, but it was from China, smelled bad, and had no character. This smells great, much better quality with handmade accents and came from Tennessee. It’s perfect and matches my other Col. Littleton items. Really perfect “weakness”, Col. Cheers.

  3. I received the Leather Emissary today — Vintage Brown/engraved with No. 18 Hunt Bag Tobacco Buffalo. I didn’t know the color would be a perfect match to purse. Both items work together very well. Love, love, love. The gifts that came with it are such a bonus. (Mini moon pie, Colonel Coffee, leather coaster and all the literature). Class act!!!!

  4. The Emissary Leather Envelope: CUCUMBER WORTHY!

Everyone remembers their first…. Their first kiss; their first love; their first beer; their first speeding ticket….

My first visit to the world-wide headquarters of the Colonel Littleton conglomerate, nestled in the bustling, high-energy, mega-tropolis of Lynnville, Tenn, found me immersed in a rich cacophony of unapologetically USDA Grade-A, AMERICAN leather sights, smells, feelings and purveyed goods. I subsequently became seduced by what I KNEW would become my first CL acquisition, a Private Stock Emissary that melted in my hands like buttah at first contact.

I didn’t choose it. It chose me, and it was lust at first touch!

Like most high-mileage, well-traveled folks, I’ve handled a lot of skin in my day; but, I was at a loss deciding whether this singularly seminal item could best ascribed to be sensuous or sensual. What I DID know was I was holding something of near-perfect form, elevated more so by the elegant, minimalist amalgamation of material, design and fabrication.

Side Bar: Myriad under-compensated Japanese Zen Gardners through the ages have spent countless reincarnated lifetimes trying to achieve this level of balanced harmony…..

Fortunately, my mental conundrum was short-lived as I flash-backed to my youth and the opening weekend of one of the most concise and timeless treatments of the American Human Condition in and of our day: “Animal House.”

Imbedded within a cinematic tour de force chocker-blocked full of one-liners and mental get-out-of-jail-free cards, the movie’s cucumber conversation between Otter and Mrs. Wormer gave me my answer.

And who doesn’t think that Colonel’s “Strive to be Stellar” alliterate mantra wouldn’t decisively acquit itself with both dignity and honor in a verbal food fight with Emil Faber’s notion that “Knowledge is Good”?

Perhaps, if Bluto had striven just a little bit harder in his chosen life’s pursuits, he could have one day grown up to be President Blutarsky.

  5. A PIECE OF WORKING ART!!! I just received my Emissary leather envelope and it is exquisite. The fine grain leather feels so smooth and the stitching is extremely solid. The moon pie that was included with my order brought back fond memories of my childhood, when my father would take me to the store for a moon pie and soda pop. Thank you Colonel, for crafting such a fine quality leather piece!

  6. Just received my Emissary and I love it. I recently finished restoring my grandfather’s 1930 Model A Ford and I plan to keep all important papers in it. Such a fitting place to store critical documents on this beautiful piece of American automotive history. Thank you Colonel for this wonderful piece of art and I salute you!!

  7. Received this as a gift. Opening the box was as much of an experience as the beautiful gift itself! I felt like I got to know this company just by looking at all the great touches they included with the gift. Very happy with this and would recommend the store to anyone looking for leather goods.

  8. GREAT GREAT SUPER GREAT. Bought this Emissary leather envelope a few months ago, and last month on the very FIRST time I used the leather envelops arriving at the place of business the clerk said ,that leather envelope is neat. The texture and workmanship is PHENOMENAL.Price is very very very fair.

  9. Ordered this item on Sunday, it arrived on Wednesday. Super excited to put into use. Specifically wanted something I could stuff work papers into that usually get lost on my desk at the office. Now I know where to find the important things. Awesome customer service.

  10. This envelope is great for keeping documents. I know that it will hold at least 100 pages of 8.5 x 11 paper and will likely hold more. The back makes an excellent writing service. The design is elegant and the quality of both the leather and production is elegant. The only potential downside is that the leather is quite floppy. As such, it does not provide much protection from bending or crumpling. This is not a problem if you’re aware of it and place the envelope in your briefcase, bag, etc. accordingly.

  12. This document envelope is exactly what I have been searching for to carry contracts to and from meetings. This item proved to be of higher quality and available at a lower price point than many other leather goods companies’ items. Keep up the great work Colonel.

  13. Beautiful classic design and fantastic quality. I bought this as a gift for someone, and it came in a nice bag and box, all ready to be gifted. The monogramming option was a great personalization touch. Thank you!

Our Warranty

We are committed to producing quality, handcrafted products that showcase our time-honored standards of excellence and deep respect for the Americana tradition. Col. Littleton products go through rigorous testing and numerous quality inspections before being shipped to our customers. Should you receive a Col. Littleton product that is defective in materials or workmanship, you can count on us to make it right. Our guarantee is limited to the cost of the product itself. It also does not cover normal wear and tear. We feel if you just plain “wore it out,” you got your money’s worth. Also, we cannot be responsible for an item which has suffered through alteration, damage due to improper cleaning, improper use, mishandling or accident. If we made a mistake in personalizing your product or if the product is defective in materials or workmanship, of course we’ll replace it. Otherwise, personalized products are not returnable.

Our Leather

Leather is a passion for me. There are more kinds of leather and leather processing out there than you can shake a stick at. You can mold leather into just about any shape or form. You can make every hide look just alike. You can dye it green, blue or even pink. You can apply a finish, coat it, spray it or make it look slick and shiny. That’s not what we’re about at Col. Littleton. To me the beauty is in the naturalness of the leather. People always comment to me about the special “feel” of our leather and how it becomes even more beautiful after it has some wear on it. It’s all about our leather process. When you buy Col. Littleton leather goods, you’re buying, for the most part, full-grain American vegetable-tanned steer hide that has received a minimum of alteration. We don’t apply a finish to hide character markings. The way I see it, every marking tells a story and covering them robs the piece of its life and character.
