As it passes through town, I always think about those travelers of yesteryear – how they dressed and what they carried. The No. 3 Leather Grip Bag is the result of that reflection.

Superbly handmade in our Col. Littleton Workshop, the No. 3 Grip really qualifies as Americana art; yet, it is very functional and serviceable. The beauty is in the details. Solid copper tubes and solid brass fixtures set it apart from any piece of luggage you’ll ever see. The No. 3 may be carried by either the leather handle or the adjustable shoulder strap which adjusts from 39 ½” – 47 ½”. Straps on the back secure your umbrella (umbrella not included).
Colonel has pulled out all the stops in creating this premium version of our always popular No. 3 Grip. The bag is a beauty to behold. Made of wonderfully textured, full-grain, rich Tobacco Brown American Buffalo which is dry-milled, making the bag soft and supple. Trimmed in our signature Vintage Brown polished American Steerhide. We’ve retained natural hide markings to add to the character of the bag. Solid brass hardware. The front brass pommel shield* is serial numbered, noting the exclusivity of the piece.

Leather is a passion for me. There are more kinds of leather and leather processing out there than you can shake a stick at. You can mold leather into just about any shape or form. You can make every hide look just alike. You can dye it green, blue or even pink. You can apply a finish, coat it, spray it or make it look slick and shiny. That’s not what we’re about at Col. Littleton. To me the beauty is in the naturalness of the leather. People always comment to me about the special “feel” of our leather and how it becomes even more beautiful after it has some wear on it. It’s all about our leather process. When you buy Col. Littleton leather goods, you’re buying, for the most part, full-grain American vegetable-tanned steerhide that has received a minimum of alteration. We don’t apply a finish to hide character markings. The way I see it, every marking tells a story and covering them robs the piece of its life and character.

I have been drooling over this bag for some time and finally took the plunge. It looks much better than on the website. An American classic. Roomy inside. Closing the bag takes some getting used to but once you’ve figured it out, it is easy. Watch the Colonel’s video on Youtube. I would strongly recommend this bag as a weekender. One caveat – my experience with customer service was odd. Along with this bag I bought a couple of other things but deleted the No 33 notebook from my cart by mistake. I had a discount coupon which was a one time use coupon. When I realised it I emailed customer service (same day as the order when i saw the confirmation email) and asked to add it to the order or asked if they could stretch the coupon to cover the notebook when they informed me that the order had shipped. They declined. Which is fine – the conditions were clear that it was a one time use coupon and a discount is not an entitlement but up to the Colonel. Not the greatest first experience though.

Just received my Buffalo No. 3 Grip Bag. Had looked at this product for several years, originally seeing the standard leather model. This product….fit and finish…exceeds expectations. The bag is extraordinary. Also, came with a nice storage bag and some surprise goodies! The extras were unexpected and a nice touch. This company knows how to go beyond meeting the customer expectations. To say I am impressed is an understatement. So nice doing business with a company that truly focuses on the customer experience and provides “stellar” products.

I was amazed when I saw this bag and got to examine, the leather, design, and quality.
