No. 20 Wastebasket – Bridle Leather

I own a circa 1861 29th Alabama Artillery Grease Bucket. The bucket originally swung under the axle of a cannon and carried grease for greasing the cannon wheels. As I looked at it one day, it occurred to me that it would be a neat-looking design for a wastebasket interpreted in leather. Here’s the finished product.

Made in the Col. Littleton Workshop of edge-stitched Italian bridle leather with a cherry wooden bottom. Joined in the back by brass rivets. 8″ opening and 10″ deep.

Personally, I would feel better if you didn’t toss banana peels and apple cores in it or line it with one of those plastic bags from your favorite discount store… but that’s just me. Whatever you decide to do, it’s a handsome piece for office, library or family room. May be personalized with 3 initials on the brass oval plate.

Total Size: 8.5″ Wide x 11″ Tall
