Hat size is based on the circumference of the head where the hat brim sits.
Small – Hat Size 6 7/8 inches – 7 inches, Circumference 21 1/2 inches to 21 7/8 inches
Medium – Hat Size 7 1/8 – 7 1/4, Circumference 22 1/4 inches to 22 5/8 inches
Large– Hat Size 7 3/8 – 7 1/2, Circumference 23 inches to 23 ½ inches
XLarge – Hat Size 7 5/8 – 7 3/4, Circumference 23 7/8 inches to 24 1/4 inches

It also does not cover normal wear and tear. We feel if you just plain “wore it out,” you got your money’s worth. Also, we cannot be responsible for an item which has suffered through alteration, damage due to improper cleaning, improper use, mishandling or accident. If we made a mistake in personalizing your product or if the product is defective in materials or workmanship, of course we’ll replace it. Otherwise, personalized products are not returnable.
Leather is a passion for me. There are more kinds of leather and leather processing out there than you can shake a stick at. You can mold leather into just about any shape or form. You can make every hide look just alike. You can dye it green, blue or even pink. You can apply a finish, coat it, spray it or make it look slick and shiny. That’s not what we’re about at Col. Littleton. To me the beauty is in the naturalness of the leather. People always comment to me about the special “feel” of our leather and how it becomes even more beautiful after it has some wear on it. It’s all about our leather process. When you buy Col. Littleton leather goods, you’re buying, for the most part, full-grain American vegetable-tanned steer hide that has received a minimum of alteration. We don’t apply a finish to hide character markings. The way I see it, every marking tells a story and covering them robs the piece of its life and character.
I see a real resurgence in the country today for products made in America. Our focus is to design and create products that speak to the time-honored traditions that have made this country great such as handmade craftsmanship, authentic rich leathers and quality workmanship. There’s a nostalgic feel about the products we make . . . most of them could have been made 100 years ago and many are made using turn-of-the-20th-century methodology and machinery. I am a 7 5/8″ long oval, and the XL Backroad Fur Felt Hat (Putty) fit in a perfectly comfortable manner. I wore it all night after delivery and I’ma show it off at work tonight.
This is the second felt hat we have bought. My husband loves this hat…so much so he wanted both colors! Incredible quality hat and the best customer service I have ever had from any company!
I received the Backroad Fur Felt Hat as a gift, and it is great. The hat was well-packaged, and it fit perfectly out of the box. The little extras including a hat sizer, that I didn’t need, were a nice touch. I look forward to wearing it for a long time.
Just love my new rabbit fur backwoods hat. Just a little advice if you have cats. Mine took a liking to my new hat, guess they thought it was a rabbit. Left a few teeth marks and a couple of scratches. Still love my cats and my hat.
My wife and I own several of the Colonel’s products. I have had my eye on this hat for quite a while and I finally ordered it. Like everything else from the Colonel, shipping was fast and communication with the company is excellent. The care taken to pack the hat so it was not damaged in shipping was greatly appreciated along with the special extras included with the hat. Customer service is second to none at Colonel Littleton.
